Rare and valuable Hawaii currency on display at Hawaii Convention Center

Rare and valuable Hawaii currency is on display at the Hawaii Convention Center for this weekend only.

Nearly two dozen examples of paper money issued a century ago by The First National Bank of Hawaii now First Hawaiian Bank are on display for the first time in Honolulu.

Valuable coins are also being shown-off, and sold.

“This is an 1879 Flowing hair, $4 gold piece. There was only 400 of these made, and we just sold it for $138,000,” said coin collector Mark Scott.

The show runs through Sunday. Admission is free.
