The Royal Canadian Mint has taken part in an official presentation (25th May) of their new silver collector coin marking the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid, where brave Canadian troops suffered heavy losses in Canada’s first army combat mission of the Second World War. In remembrance of this unforgettable chapter in Canadian military history, the Royal Canadian Mint took part in the presentation of a framed version of this coin to the Moncton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Remember Canada’s jaw-dropping, million-dollar gold Maple Leaf? Struck in 2007, the coin weighs 100 kilograms, is .99999 fine, and has a $1 million face value. A little over an inch thick and nearly 21 inches in diameter, it’s worth nearly $4.5 million.The coin, which contains 3,215 troy ounces of gold, was certified by Guinness World Records to be the world’s largest gold coin. According to the Royal Canadian Mint’s website, five have been produced and sold to date.

(Rosemont, Illinois) — A new silver bullion coin by the Royal Canadian Mint that depicts a bald eagle in flight while clutching a fish in its talons is being praised by an award-winning rare coin and precious metals expert.

“This beautiful design captures the magnificence of a Bald Eagle, and the coin itself provides collectors and investors a convenient way to own one-ounce of 99.99 percent pure silver,” said Michael Fuljenz, President of Universal Coin & Bullion (www.UniversalCoin.com) in Beaumont, Texas.

The front of the coin has a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Fuljenz examined examples of the new precious metal coin when they made their first appearance in the United States at the American Numismatic Association Chicago World’s Fair of Money in Rosemont, Illinois, August 5 – 9, 2014.
