The National Bank of Hungary have issued a new coin which highlights the upcoming FIFA World Cup championships to be held in Brazil from the 12th June to the 15th July 2014 in several venues throughout the country.

The 2014 event will be the 5th time Brazil will play host to this world-wide sporting spectacle. As Brazil was chosen as tournament host for 2014, it will be the first World Cup to be held in South America since the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina, the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged outside Europe (the 2010 tournament being staged in South Africa), and the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged in the Southern Hemisphere. The 2014 championships will also be the first FIFA World Cup to use electronic goal-line technology. A total of twelve host cities were chosen and the opening kick-off is to be held on 12 June in São Paulo. An estimated 3.3 million tickets will be available for the various matches with a world-wide broadcast audience of more than half the world’s population.
