Italy Releases Final Gold Coins in Popular “Flora and Fauna” Series

The Istituto Poligrafico Zecca Della Stato (IPZS) has issued the last two gold coins in a five-year series highlighting the flora and fauna of Italy. This year the representation of animals and flowers is taken from famous works of contemporary art.

20 EURO: Contemporary art is well represented by the floral frescoes decorating the Villa Igiea in Palermo. These frescoes were superbly painted by Ettore De Maria Bergler (1850 – 1938), an Italian artist considered to be the most important practitioner of early 20th century Libertarian painting.
