Washington — Former U.S. Senator Robert Joseph “Bob” Dole received a Congressional Gold Medal today during a ceremony in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol. Dole was presented the medal in recognition of his service to the nation as a soldier, legislator, and statesman.

Bob Dole proudly served the people of Kansas in Congress for 36 years, both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate. During his time in office, he was known for his bipartisan ability to “reach across the aisle,” which was illustrated by his work on the Americans with Disabilities Act. Today, The United States Mint has released a Jack Nicklaus Congressional Gold Medal as authorized by Public Law 113-210. Jack Nicklaus received the Congressional Gold Medal today during a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.
The medal recognizes Nicklaus’ service to the nation in promoting excellence, good sportsmanship, and philanthropy.
Nicklaus’ competitive career spanned parts of five decades during which he accumulated 120 victories in national and international professional competitions, 73 of which were won on the Professional Golfers Association TOUR. His record 18 professional major championships remains the standard by which all golfers are measured today.
