This regular DWN blog feature looks at some of the rare and interesting coins which we have sold in recent months. Most of these coins never made it to our website, and were quietly sold to collectors who we knew needed specific issues and who we had close personal relationships with.

This amazing coin was recently found in Europe and, of course, we will never know for sure how it made it there or how it survived the ravages of time so well. It was offered to me by a dealer who purchased it from its “discoverer” and I was thrilled… Full article at the source>

Family Wins Back 1933 gold double eagle

A U.S. appeals court ruled on Friday that the U.S. government must return 10 pieces of By a 2-1 vote, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia said Joan Langbord and her sons Roy and David are the rightful owners of the “double eagle” $20 gold pieces, after the government ignored their claim to the coins and missed a deadline to seek their forfeiture.
