Following the initial release of 2,891 documents previously withheld by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Thursday, October 19, the Internet went up in storm. While many are satisfied with this initial release of documents regarding the president’s assassination, the international non-profit transparency group WikiLeaks is offering a $100,000 reward for the remainder of the withheld documents, with founder Julian Assange calling President Trump’s delay on the 25-year-planned full release “inexcusable.” As an interesting example of cosmic irony, 2017 also happens to be the centenary anniversary of President Kennedy’s… Full article at the source>

On July 17, companion bills were introduced in the House and Senate authorizing production of commemorative coins to honor the birth centennial of President John F. Kennedy. Since last year (and even earlier), collectors have been watching for a blip on the legislative radar that would signal plans for a Kennedy commemorative; as each month passed with nothing to authorize such a program, they became increasingly vocal in their disapproval. Once Kennedy’s 100th birthday (May 29) was in the rearview mirror, most of the complaints gave way to an unhappy sense of resignation.

Last month, to coincide with the release of the 50th Anniversary Kennedy Half Dollar Uncirculated Coin Set, the United States Mint also began offering John F. Kennedy Bronze Medals.

These medals are part of the Presidential Medal series, which have seen issuance for each President of the United States from George Washington to George W. Bush. Sales Halted In Rosemont For New Gold Kennedy Coins

(Rosemont, Illinois) — The United States Mint and the American Numismatic Association Board of Governors have jointly announced that sales have been suspended for the John F. Kennedy gold proof half dollars at the World’s Fair of MoneySM in Rosemont, Illinois after today, August 7, 2014.

Earlier today, the Mint announced it had suspended sales at its three retail locations in Philadelphia, Denver and Washington, D.C.

In its earlier sales suspension statement the Mint explained: “The Mint made this decision to ensure the safety of those wanting to purchase the coin and the safety of its own employees.”

Hundreds of people have lined up outside the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont each night since Monday to purchase the new gold coins that have a dual date, 1964-2014, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy half dollars. Sales of the gold coins at the World’s Fair of Money were limited to only 500 coins per day, and only one per customer.

Customers interested in purchasing the gold Kennedy half dollar proof coins are encouraged to visit the Mint’s website (www.usmint.gov) or contact the call center (1-800-USA-MINT), where they can purchase up to five coins per household.

The United States Mint will continue offering other Mint products for sale at the World’s Fair of Money that is open to the public and continues as scheduled through Saturday afternoon, August 9.

Admission to the show on Saturday, August 9, will be free for Free Appraisal Day when the public is invited to bring in their old coins and paper money for complimentary, expert educational appraisals by American Numismatic Association members. The Central Bank of Ireland has launched two collector coins to mark the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s visit to Ireland.

A €10 silver coin and a €20 gold coin both feature an iconic portrait of John F. Kennedy, who becomes the first President of the United States to appear on an Irish coin.

Both coins were designed by Tom Fitzgerald and have an issue limit of 35,000 units; 25,000 units of the €10 silver coin and 10,000 units of the €20 gold coin.
