The investing world has changed radically for gold fans in recent years.

There may be no other single commodity for which there is such a wide variety of choices in how to gain exposure.

There are mutual funds and exchange-traded funds that hold gold-mining stocks and also ETFs that own bars of bullion or gold futures. And then there’s a perennial standby, the personal stash of coins or bars.
